Andrea Bassi was born in Rijeka. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb.
She specialized in icon painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece, and ceramics at the
Jingdezhen Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute in the People’s Republic of China.
As an independent artist, she works in the fields of painting, ceramics, animated film, illustration and
design of practical items. She is a member of the Croatian Society of Fine Artists of Applied Arts and the
Association of Croatian Artists. Since graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts, she has been
intensively creating and continuously exhibiting, and has so far presented twenty-five solo exhibitions
(Rijeka, Zagreb, Opatija, Zaprešić, Sisak, Bjelovar, Đurđevac, Đakovo, Lepoglava, Dubrovnik, Krk,
Vrbnik, Szentendre – Hungary, Pécs – Hungary), as well as a number of group exhibitions locally and
internationally (Canada, Chile, Italy, Argentina, Poland, Taiwan, the United States, England, Bosnia and
Herzegovina).
She has made animated films in collaboration with the Croatian Radio Television in addition to
illustrating two picture books of folk tales and exhibited illustrations at the Memorial Museum of the
bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Đakovo.
She has collaborated with the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb and collaborates with the Croatian
National Theater in Varaždin and the “Žar ptica” children’s theater in Zagreb, as well as with the private
Art High School in Zagreb.
She designs and makes artistic ceramics and practical art objects. She also collaborates and permanently
exhibits in several private galleries in Zagreb, Rijeka and Dubrovnik.
Andrea Bassi’s works have been included in the books “History of Modern Ceramics in Croatia” (1996.
second extended edition), “Contemporary Ceramics in Croatia” (1994.), “Selection of Critics Ceramics
and Glass 1950 – 1999″ (2017.) and “Shards speak – ceramics destroyed in earthquakes” (2020.) by
Marina Baričević.

In 2007., the production of the program for culture recorded a show dedicated to the work and creation of
Andrea Bassi, which is at the same time her dynamic portrait and presentation of her overall authorial

In 2013., 2014. and 2015., she worked on the project “Eu – upo – prepoznavanje” with Mr. Tahir Mujičić
under the auspices of ULUPUH. The result of this cooperation is the exchange of exhibitions of the
ceramic section of ULUPUH. Thus, the exhibition of Applied Transformation in 2014. was hosted in the
Celle Septicori space in Pécs, Hungary along with the exhibition of the photographic section of ULUPUH
“Aktualno 4 – memory code” in the Zsolnaj center. The exhibition of the Zsolnay Center was shown in
Zagreb as well, in the Karas Gallery, and in 2015. ULUPUH was a guest in Gallery 21, in the Zsolnay
Center with the exhibition “Interactions – Contemporary Applied Art from Croatia”.
In 2018. and 2019., she participated in the Jelenovac Theater Project and led an art workshop for the
population of 54+ residents. The project is fully funded by the European Social Fund.
Andrea Bassi lives and works in Zagreb and Dubrovnik.
